I have five or six of them upstairs, two 410s two or three 20 gauges and a 12 gauge. They were made in 410, 20 gauge and 12 gauge. Another single shot shotgun that I really like are the old Ithaca Model 66 Super-Single, lever-action break open. I have $25 Cabelas gift card, I'll have to stop by and get some 16 gause shells on the way home tomorrow from the other gun store. Thank you for this post, it brought back some good memories for me and made me want to go pick up one of them in 16 gauges that are for sale. I'd like to hear the hunting stories if these old shotguns could talk. They aren't worth a lot, but are a neat part of history for millions of people.įor many families back then in the old days they couldn't afford any thing other then these old Ivers Johnson single shot shotguns and back then they made every shot count. I'll have to post pictures after I pick up the 16 gauge. There are two 16 gauge Ivers Johnson shotguns locally, I'm going tomorrowto pick one of them up to add to the three I have. I can kick myself in my ass for not buying that shotgun. I should of sprung on it but didn't, I'll probably never see another 28 gauge. I seen a 28 gauge Ivers Johnson at the local Cabelas on the used gun rack, they wanted $179 for it. These are the working mans type of utility gun, the put tons of food on the dinner table for almost a hunded years. I then picked up an old 410 Ivers Johnson Champion at a gun show for aroud a hundred bucks and then I found an old 20 gauge Ivers Johnson Champion at another gun show for another hundred bucks. I shot a ton of squirrel, a bunch of rabbits, a few grouse, a turkey, a deer, a woodchuck with #OO Buckshot. I used that shotgun all that fall & winter for everything I hunted. I kept the 12 gauge Ivers Johnson, it has the matted barrel (solid rib on the top of the barrel) and sold the other one for $30, So my 12 gauge Ivers Johnson only cost be $5. He had two old single shot shotguns for $35 for the both of them. This old guy use to hit up the garage sales, estate sales and flea markets and buy things and resold them at his houce down on Olive Street, right down the side street Dick's started out on.
